cherries in syrup

We are in full season of cherries, and my mother-in-law often comes with a gift box full of his clients, because here, who has some 'ground easily has some cherry trees.
But I'm allergic to raw fruit, and after I cooked give no trouble, sifting through the site Coquinaria I found this easy recipe to get Private Message sour cherries or similar to the famous Blacksmith's good on ice cream and roll in this last year.

CHERRIES IN SYRUP (Type Fabbri Cherries)

rattle off a kilo of cherries or sour cherries;
Let them soak for 1 hour in a low, wide pot with 700 g of sugar and juice of 1 lemon;
Put the pot on the stove and boil for 2 minutes;
Turn off the heat and let it all rest for 12 hours;
Remove the cherries and boil the remaining liquid over high heat for 15 minutes so that is reduced significantly to almost caramelize;
Add the cherries and, to taste, a glass of cherry liqueur, and simmer everything together for 2 minutes;
immediately put into the pots cleaned well and turn upside down to create the vacuum.
